Perched up nearly 800 metres high upon a rocky overhang, this impressive fortress built in the XII century will plunge you back in time to the Middle Ages. This landmark also offers an extraordinary view over the Alsatian plains.

Destroyed during the Thirty Years War, the castle was restored at the beginning of the 1900s by the emperor of Germany, William II, to the castle’s original layout at the end of the XV century. Drawbridges, armouries, dungeons and canons are constant reminders of the vocation of this fortified castle which was besieged, pillaged and destroyed time and again. From its low-sitting courtyard with its inn, forge and windmill, to its spiral staircase leading to the furnished quarters, you’ll explore architecture, furnishings and an atmosphere full of history.

The Medieval garden is accessible from May to September.
